Dr. John Shiau is a board certified Neurosurgeon, well recognized and respected nationally for his participation and contributions towards the advancement of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.  With over ten years of Neurosurgical practice within the New York tri-state region, his ever growing reputation and expertise in the field of minimally invasive neurosurgery have earned him consideration as one of New York’s leaders in the field.  Dr. Shiau prides himself in his accomplishments as such, and is passionate in providing his patients with the best and least invasive neurosurgical care possible.

Danielle Ruggiero RPA-C

Certified Physician Assistant
Clinical & Professional Relations

Ms. Ruggiero is primarily employed at Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Institute as Physician Assistant to Dr. John Shiau. Additionally, she serves as clinical education director and professional relations liaison. With over seven years as a practicing PA, she has spent the last five years treating patients in the neurosurgical and interventional spine fields. Her interest and dedication in emerging minimally invasive techniques have led her to work with an institution that shares the same ideals. Danielle is passionate about educating the patient and medical professional population in minimally invasive spine surgery, and has taken lead in the bi-monthly patient seminars held at MISSI.  When not in the office, Ms. Ruggiero enjoys an action packed life in NYC and abroad. An avid traveler, Danielle has visited  Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Spain, France, Greece, England, Mexico and Colombia to name a few. Often, her trips allow her the opportunity to Scuba Dive or partake in outdoor adventure. When home in Manhattan with her two dogs, she enjoys cooking as often as possible, typically hosting friends and family. Danielle loves animals and children, fashion and art, architecture and design, performing arts and live music. All in all, these are the things that she believes make her a well rounded individual.
